About

The Velvet Static formed in 2021 when Nina (vocals, guitar) and Cal (bass) answered the same ad on a record-store corkboard. Drummer Jo and keyboardist Ravi joined a few months later.

We record in our rehearsal space, release on cassette and vinyl, and play wherever will have us. Booking enquiries go through the contact page.

The band

Nina Vale
Vocals, guitar

Writes the songs in the bathtub because the acoustics are better. Owns eleven pedals, uses three.

Cal Okafor
Bass

The reason the low end sounds like a warm blanket. Will talk about flatwound strings at length.

Jo Reyes
Drums

Plays as softly as possible, as hard as necessary. Collects broken cymbals.

Ravi Anand
Keys, synths

Builds half the sounds from scratch. His modular rack is held together by hope.
